PREAMBLE/BACKGROUND

Our everyday challenges make life beautiful and overcoming them makes life meaningful. This is because we become more matured and gain a better understanding on how to deal with every problem in life when we pass the true test of time. "Against All Odds Foundation" is geared towards rendering a distinctive, consistent and high-quality service to humanity to live purposeful lives and foster the development of vulnerable groups, thereby advocating for an end to all forms of Gender Based Violence, especially against women and girls.

Against All Odds Foundation (AGAOF) is a woman-led, Non-Governmental Organization that operates in the communities in the North East Nigeria, enriching lives globally. The organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in the year 2016 and responds to the needs of vulnerable populations in the area of Health and nutrition, Protection/GBV, Early Recovery/Livelihood, Education, Climate Action, and Countering Violent Extremism/Peace Building. We advocate for gender equality as a tool to promote the right to education and gender mainstreaming in planning and development. AGAOF works to strengthen community resilience and development aimed at promoting local participation through community and stakeholder engagements, women self-help groups, Youth engagement and mobilization, Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interview (KII), capacity building, and sustainable development programs promoting women participation in politics, inclusion in governance and decision making as well as the right to equal opportunity and skills development. We also provide support services and respond to the unique needs of survivors, promote accountability to the affected population to enhance their access to quality services.

The foundation is non-religious, non-political, and is gender-inclusive.

OBJECTIVES
  1. To advocate for gender equality as a tool for promoting the right to education, good governance, and social justice.
  2. To promote the right of women/girls and the vulnerable groups and support their protection from all forms of violence, neglect, and exploitation.
  3. To support activities aimed at strengthening good governance systems, focusing on public financial management and procurement processes so as to improve government responsiveness to citizen needs as well as promote accountability and transparency in the public service.
  4. To respond to the needs of the displaced population affecting their livelihood and early recovery, health, and environment through emergencies/humanitarian response and development programs.
  5. To strengthen community resilience and development aimed at promoting local participation and/or production to achieve positive change.

Our Focal Target Group(s)

Our target group(s) includes but not limited to youths, children, vulnerable women and girls, men/boys, the internally displaced persons, government institutions and the local communities.

What we do:
  1. We empathize/identify with the weak and the vulnerable groups in giving them necessary support to live purposeful lives.
  2. We render Mental Health & Psychosocial support and counselling services to victims of conflicts, trauma, rape survivors and other forms of Gender Based Violence who are emotionally traumatized such as children, women/girls and boys/men.
  3. We advocate for gender equality as a tool to promoting the right to education, as well as advocate to end all forms of violence against women and the girl child.
  4. We support activities aimed at strengthening good governance focusing on public financial management and procurement processes so as to improve government responsiveness to citizen needs as well as promote accountability and transparency in the public service.
  5. We carry out community development projects aimed at promoting local participation through community engagements, women self-help groups, FGDs, capacity building and sustainable development with a focus on women participation in politics, inclusion in governance and decision making at all levels as well as promote the right to equal opportunity.
  6. We provide support services and respond to the unique needs of survivors/individuals through case management so as to enhance their access to quality services.
  7. We advocate for a sustainable clean environment and promote its protection through adaptive and regenerative activities including awareness campaigns, economic empowerment, and promoting family nutrition.

AGAOF Leadership and Governance Structure

The Board of Trustees (BoT) serves as the highest decision-making body of the organization, in accordance with the organization's constitution. The BoT, along with the management, provides policies, strategic plans, and direction for the organization. Day-to-day management and operations are under the supervision of the Management Team and the Executive Director.

There is also a pool of volunteer staff and professional and technical experts who complement the implementation of programs, projects, and activities.
